Dental Hygiene – What You Need To Know.
Dental Hygiene – A Scale And Polish.

Through the process of scaling and polishing, professional teeth cleaning services are provided by hygienists. A comprehensive dental hygiene examination is conducted by the hygienist prior to scaling teeth, removing any buildup of plaque or tartar that cannot be accessed through brushing. After scaling, a clean and polish is performed to remove superficial stains from teeth.
Aside from the cleaning procedure, the hygienist also provides personalised guidance on maintaining excellent dental health, including advice on diet and prevention of tooth decay. The hygienist also identifies signs of gum disease and provides demonstrations of proper home care techniques. If further treatment is necessary, the hygienist refers patients to a dentist or periodontist.
Dental Hygiene – Air Flow Technology.

At Parkway Clinic, we understand the importance of maintaining clean and healthy teeth. That’s why we offer a cutting-edge treatment known as Air-Flow EMS therapy, which is only available at select dental clinics.
This revolutionary hygiene treatment utilises a unique device that combines water, fine powder particles, and compressed air to create a powerful jet that effectively eliminates stubborn stains, plaque, and discoloration from your teeth.
Even those hard-to-reach areas and spots above and below the gum line can be treated painlessly and effectively with this innovative spray technology.
If you’re looking for a brighter, healthier smile, come visit Parkway Clinic and experience the incredible benefits of Air-Flow EMS therapy – some even liken it to a jet wash for your teeth!
Dental Hygiene – Direct Access.

Prior to May 1, 2013, Dental Hygienists were required to work solely from a dentist’s prescription, meaning patients needed to undergo an examination by a dentist before receiving treatment. However, the General Dental Council has since voted in favor of patients being granted direct access to Dental Hygienists without a prescription from a referring dentist.
As a result, patients at Parkway Clinic can now receive treatment from our highly experienced Hygienist team without first seeing a dentist. Our team is able to provide a range of treatments without a prescription, including simple scale and polish, stain removal, treatment of gum disease, oral hygiene instruction, and plaque, bleeding, and periodontal indices, as well as implant hygiene maintenance.
However, certain procedures, such as X-rays and tooth whitening/bleaching, still require a prescription from a dentist. Overall, this new regulation provides patients with greater convenience and ease of access to vital dental care services.
